Vice President for Student Affairs Tamagawa making a speech
A meeting between vice presidents and members of the Student Representative Conference (Zendaikai) was held on December 7. This annual meeting aims at hearing the views of students and reflecting their opinions in university operations. A total of 55 students and 67 faculty members and university employees participated in the meeting. Board members in attendance were Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa, Vice President for Education Makoto Ito, and Vice President for Global Affairs Benton Caroline Fern.
Mr. Yugo Suzumi, chairman of the Zendaikai, first gave a briefing on its ongoing activities, with Associate Professor Hanako Suzuki, Vice Head of the Student Office, serving as a chairperson. All attendees then exchanged opinions under the theme of “Necessity for an efficient means to share the activities of Zendaikai with all students”.
The meeting was concluded with vice presidents’ speeches. They expressed their hope that members of Zendaikai will activate their efforts to get both Japanese and international students interested in their activities, and think of ways to have more students participate in Zendaikai’s activities. Vice presidents also explained that there has been a Class System at the university for 40 years. They said that it is time to reconsider the current system and change it to a better one.
