  • Student Exchange Project between the University of Tsukuba and National Taiwan University

    A student exchange project was implemented between the University of Tsukuba and National Taiwan University from December 2 (Fri) to 4 (Sun). A total of 21 undergraduate students of the University of Tsukuba, including a member of the university’s newspaper club, visited National Taiwan University for the project.

    The University of Tsukuba has promoted the Campus-in-Campus (CiC) initiative as part of the Top Global University Project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Through the student exchange project, the university aimed to promote exchange with National Taiwan University, which is one of the CiC partner universities, and to increase students’ interest in studying at National Taiwan University.

    Students joining the project were supposed to have a discussion in groups and make a presentation in English at National Taiwan University. To prepare for the day, the students had been divided into ten groups. Each group consisted of four students, including two students of the University of Tsukuba and two students of National Taiwan University. The group members had online discussion and communication beforehand to attend the meeting well prepared.

    The project was concluded with a welcome party given by National Taiwan University. In addition, students of National Taiwan University gave a guided tour of Taipei City for the students of the University of Tsukuba. The project was a great opportunity to develop relations between the two universities.

    Some of the feedback afterwards from the students were: “I made up my mind to study abroad”; “The project increased my interest in the double degree program implemented by the University of Tsukuba and National Taiwan University”; “I got more interested in studying abroad after joining the project”; “It was great to know the National Taiwan University’s great academic environment.”; “Though I’m not so good at English speaking, the project gave me courage to overcome my weakness”; “I’m learning Chinese. I got motivated to improve my Chinese after joining the project”.

    The University of Tsukuba plans to send its students to National Taiwan University and accept students from National Taiwan University in the FY 2017.
