  • New English Program opens : Bachelor’s Program in Global Issues

    02 09, 2017

Our university opened the Bachelor’s Program in Global Issues (BPGI), a new undergraduate interdisciplinary English program, as one of the initiatives for the Top Global University Project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

This program is a program to encourage initiatives from the merger of knowledge in the diverse academic disciplines of natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, instead of initiatives in each segmentalized academic discipline, for the resolution of global issues including pollution problems, infectious diseases, aging population combined with the diminishing number of children, falling population, global warming, and social and economic disparities. BPGI fosters human resources who will acquire a broad range of basic knowledge to get a general overview of global issues, assume a stance of pursuing the necessary information and skills with enthusiasm on their own across disciplines, and be capable of decision-making about the optimized solution among many options.

BPGI offers a study program that will become the student’s strength to deal with global issues in society after graduation by establishing a curriculum concentrating on Problem/Program Based Learning (PBL) as hands-on training as distinct from conventional one-way lectures together with the provision of an interdisciplinary education program that takes advantage of the features of our university.

This program is intended for foreign nationals for AY 2017, however, it is expected to be available from AY 2018 for Japanese nationals, too.

The Application Information is slated for release at the beginning of February.
