    06 02, 2017

Along with Vice President and Executive Director Caroline Benton (Global Affairs) of the University of Tsukuba who delivered a presentation about our Campus-in-Campus (CiC) initiative, the delegation also included Professor Takeshi Hirose of the Office of Global Initiatives and two administrative staff from the Office of Public Relations and the Academic Support Office for the Medical Sciences who mainly took charge of the University of Tsukuba’s “Study in Japan” booth for the duration of the International Education Exhibition from May 28 to June 2, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The participation of the two staff members was made possible through the support of the global staff development program under Global Commons.

Vice President Caroline Benton joined a panel session on May 30 entitled "Eliminating Barriers for Multicultural Borderless Education", together with representatives of our CiC partners: Dr. Bennett Fu, Deputy Vice President for International Affairs, National Taiwan University; and Dr. Laurent Servant, Deputy Vice-President, International Relations, University of Bordeaux. It was a well-attended session and many questions poured in showing lots of interest in the CiC scheme, with questions pertaining to setting acceptance criteria and tuition fees for CiC students, handling grading issues for the Course Jukebox system, among others.

NAFSA, which stands for Association of International Educators, is the world’s largest association dedicated to international education and exchange. This year’s conference theme is about "Expanding Community, Strengthening Connections". The annual "Study in Japan" exhibition, organized by JAFSA (Japan Network for International Education), JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) and the Top Global University Project, aims to showcase the study and exchange opportunities, research activities, educational programs, and the latest developments at leading Japanese universities and organizations. This year, our university joined 14 national, 33 private and 3 local public universities, as well as other education-related organizations from Japan.
