CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition where university students compete in a company analysis. It is organized by the CFA Institute (based in Virginia), which is an industry association of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). About 1,000 universities around the world participate in the CFA Institute Research Challenge every year. They will be evaluated based on the quality of their company analysis report, English presentation, and handling of a question and answer session. The competition has attracted attention as an opportunity to identify future leaders of the financial industry.

The University of Tsukuba Graduate School Team competed with 18 Japanese universities at the national competition of the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017, and won first place. It was a great opportunity to show their learning outcome to other students in professional graduate schools and people in the finance industry.

The team members will compete in the Asia-Pacific Competition scheduled in April 2018 in Malaysia as a representative of Japan. They are aiming to participate in the global final.
