Our university was established in 1973, due to the relocation of its antecedent, the Tokyo University of Education, to the Tsukuba area.

The University Council officially approved the crest as the school insignia of the University of Tsukuba in 1974.

The university's main campus is located in the center of Tsukuba Science City.
