The center aims to promote the joint research with Tunisian Institutions, academic exchanges between North African countries and Japan, provides public relations of the University of Tsukuba in North African Region, and contributes to the development of higher education in the Region.

Opening Ceremony

The dedication ceremony of the "University of Tsukuba North African and Mediterranean Centre for Research and Education", the first overseas office of the University of Tsukuba, took place on May 3, 2006, at the ACESS-MEDASIA Graduate Agricultural School of the University of November 7 at Carthage in Tunis, Tunisia.

The main aim of the center is three-fold. Firstly, it is called upon to promote coordination between Central Asian Universities and Research Institutes, secondly, to promote research and education both into Central Asian and Japanese. And thirdly, to encourage awareness about both Central Asian Region and Japan. Main activities of the Center include research meeting and seminars, educational training and common research projects.

The "University of Tsukuba Ho Chi Minh City Office" was established on August 6, 2009 as the third International office of the University of Tsukuba at the Institute of Tropical Biology in Ho Chi Minh City.Afterward, the office has moved to the center of Ho Chi Minh City as the new office building of its institution was established there.
This office will serve as a liaison with Vietnamese education and research institutions, allowing greater exchange opportunities for students and researchers. Understanding of both Japanese and Vietnamese culture will be facilitated, providing active support for the cultivation of talent with international awareness. With the aim of maintaining good relations, a network comprising universities and research institutions of other East Asian countries will be established.

The fourth international office of the University of Tsukuba, the "University of Tsukuba Beijing Office" was established in the JSPS Beijing Office on October 1, 2009. Activities of the office include securing excellent Chinese students, promoting cooperation with Chinese graduates having study experience at the University of Tsukuba, supporting their networking activities, supporting the University of Tsukuba's students studying at Chinese universities, collecting information about academic exchange with Chinese educational organizations, and promoting international cooperation with China.

University of Tsukuba International Office of　Bonn

The "University of Tsukuba European Office, Bonn", the fifth international office of the University of Tsukuba, was established in the Der Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (DAAD) on December 1, 2009.
Activities of the office include collecting information on academic exchange, securing excellent international students, supporting the University of Tsukuba's researchers and students studying in German universities, and promoting international cooperation with German and European countries.
