(2010.12.15)

The 3rd symposium on support for students with disabilities was held at the University Hall‚ University of Tsukuba‚ on December 15‚ 2010.

This annual symposium aims to increase the understanding of the university's students‚ staff‚ and faculty on support activities for students with disabilities and to improve the quality of the support activities by sharing information.

An external speaker was invited to the 3rd symposium. The symposium was titled "The current situation and issues of universal campus". Based on this title‚ discussion about how university should be for students with disabilities to study on their own initiative took place.

Associate Professor Hiroyuki Yamawaki (Tsukuba University of Technology) and Professor Mamoru Fujiyoshi (National Center for University Entrance Examinations) talked about the promotion of barrier-free and universal campus. Thereafter‚ participants exchanged opinions.

Participants asked many questions during the panel discussion held in the second half of the symposium. This indicated that society has a high level of concern for this field.
