The 36th Sports Day held

The 36th Sports Day was held on Tsukuba campus for two days from May 19 to 20. It was the 36th time for the University of Tsukuba to take place the event. It has been organized and carried out by the Sports Day Student Committee made up of our university students. This annual event attracts nearly 10‚000 people‚ including students and faculty staff of the university.

With the nice weather‚ participants enjoyed doing sports in fresh air on each day.
Games including softball‚ handball‚ tennis‚ orienteering and other field sports took place in the athletic field‚ and matches of basketball‚ soft-volleyball‚ dodgeball‚ and table tennis took place in the gymnasiums.

The event was closed with a balloon release‚ passing it onto the next round‚ the Autumn Sports Day scheduled in October. The Sports Day ended with great success thanks to the efforts of about 150 members of the Sports Day Student Committee.
At the closing ceremony‚ the following nine students were commended for the last three years of management of the event.

- Mr. Yuta Hatanaka (fourth-year student of the College of Information Science‚ School of Informatics)
- Mr. Hiromu Mori (fourth-year student of the College of Information Science‚ School of Informatics)
- Ms. Moe Yamamoto (fourth-year student of the College of Engineering Systems‚ School of Science and Engineering)
