(2012.06.01)

The University of Tsukuba has promoted the 21 countries' project‚ "Collaborative Studies on Innovations for Teaching and Learning Mathematics in Different Cultures" of the Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG)‚ APEC since 2006‚ in cooperation with Thailand and Khon Kaen University with support from the Ministry of Education‚ Culture‚ Sports‚ Science and Technology (MEXT). Associate Professor Masami Isoda of the Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational represents the project.

Our university has proposed Lesson Study as a way to improve the quality of education since its establishment in 1872. And now‚ it leads the global research trends of the Lesson Study.

The 5th APEC Education Ministerial Meeting was held at Gyeongju in Korea from May 21 to 23. The University of Tsukuba received a high evaluation for its initiative on the project by consensus of each country's Education Minister.

It is quite unusual that a specific university receives a commendation in a diplomatic document‚ especially in a joint statement of an intergovernmental organization like APEC.
