"Long-term training for the University Library staff for 2012" was held at the Union of Library and Information-Media Studios (Joho-Media Union) for two weeks from July 2 to 13‚ 2012.
36 participants‚ who were selected based on recommendation by public and private universities from all over the country‚ took part in the workshop.

This workshop has been held annually since 1969 co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Library Junior College‚ and this is the 44th workshop.
Mr. Kimihiro Nagasawa‚ Director of the Office for Science Information Infrastructure (Research and Development Bureau‚ the Ministry of Education‚ Culture‚ Sports‚ Science and Technology) was invited to the opening ceremony on the first day of the workshop.

The objectives of this workshop were to provide up-to-date information on academic information and to further improve the service system of the University Library providing information by promoting the management and planning efficiency of section chiefs and other leading staff in public and private university libraries of all over the country.

Lectures related to the management of the university's library such as "A guide to business administration‚" "Management of national university's libraries‚" and lectures related to the distribution of academic information such as "Trends of Academic Information Communication" and "Users' information behavior" were held.

In addition‚ a lecturer from Starbucks Coffee Japan‚ Limited was invited to present a talk "What the corporate philosophy tells about customer service". The workshops featured a wide range of viewpoints such as finding problems and problem-solution practice; in addition‚ group discussions were conducted.
