  • Cycling Athlete Yumi Kajihara Visits President Nagata

    Ms. Yumi Kajihara, a member of the University of Tsukuba Cycling Club, made a courtesy visit to President Kyosuke Nagata and Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa on December 12.

    Ms. Kajihara is a graduate of the Senior High School at Sakado, University of Tsukuba. After achieving great results in many cycling competitions in her high school years, she entered into the School of Health and Physical Education, University of Tsukuba in April 2016.

    During the visit, she reported on her performance in cycling competitions held this year.

    The following are her achievements in the cycling competitions held in the FY 2016.
    - April: 1st Prize, points race, Japan National Championships-Track Race
    - June: 2nd Prize, time trials, Japan National Championships-Road Race
    - June: 3rd Prize, individual road race, Japan National Championships-Road Race
    - July: set a Japanese record (3min., 27sec., 122), 3km individual pursuit, Zen-nihon Gakusei Senshuken Track Jitensha Kyogi Taikai (All Japan Intercollegiate Cycling Championship, organized by Japan Intercollegiate Cycling Federation)
    - October: Participation in the 2016 Road World Championships held in Doha, Qatar
    - November: 4th Prize, women's omnium, UCI Track Cycling World Cup
    - November: 1st Prize, women elite omnium, 2016 Japan National Championships-Omnium/Masters

    President Nagata praised her for her performance and expressed his hope that she will play an active role as a front-runner in cycling competitions.
