The 65th All Japan University Football Tournament was held at Urawa Komaba Stadium from December 7 to 18. The University of Tsukuba Men’s Football Club claimed victory at the tournament. It was their ninth championship and its first in thirteen years.
Members of the men’s football club made a courtesy visit to the university board of directors on December 27. The board members included President Kyosuke Nagata, Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa, and Vice President for Education Makoto Ito. The following members of the men’s football club attended the courtesy visit. All were in the School of Health and Physical Education: Fourth-year student Mr. Kouhei Takayanagi (captain), fourth-year student Mr. Naoya Yoshida, third-year student Mr. Seiya Nakano, and third-year student Mr. Shuto Kitagawa. They were accompanied to the courtesy visit by Associate Professor Masao Nakayama and Assistant Professor Masaaki Koido of the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences.
All attendees at the courtesy visit reminisced about the tournament. When asked about their next goal, they said they aim to be a Triple Crown winner by claiming victories at the Prime Minister Cup, the Kanto Soccer League Division 1, and the All Japan University Football Tournament.
At the end of the meeting, President Nagata praised the students for their performance and offered them encouraging words.
