Summary Aß assembly and deposition as senile plaques is an invariable and initial pathological event of Alzheimer disease. Thus, it should be fundamentally important to understand how Aß starts to assemble in the brain. We identified an endogenous seed for Aß assembly in a human brain with early pathological changes of Alzheimer disease more than 20 years ago (Nature Med 1: 1062-1066, 1995) and keep on working for this issue.
