Call for AY 2025-26 University Recommendation Scholarships for Privately Financed International Students

Note that this scholarship is only for students who have already enrolled in the university. You cannot apply before you enter the university.

The University calls for application for privately financed international students who wish to receive scholarships through university recommendation for AY2025-26 (ex. Tsukuba Scholarship, Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship and other private scholarships).

The University collectively calls for applicants for next year's scholarships once a year in July. Applications for scholarships through university recommendation are accepted only this time. Therefore, students wishing to receive a scholarship through university recommendation for AY 2025-26 are strongly encouraged to apply this time after carefully reading the Application Guide.

Please note that the number of the scholarships through university recommendation is limited; therefore, all the applicants will not be necessarily recommended to the scholarship foundations. Moreover, even if an applicant is recommended, there is no guarantee that the applicant will be accepted by the scholarship foundation.

Eligibility

Among international students holding a status of residence of "Student", undergraduate, graduate and research students are eligible to apply.

Ineligibility

• Students who will be taking a temporary leave of absence from the university in AY 2025-26

• Students who are expected to receive any scholarships or grants (JST SPRING, JSPS etc... including those covering living expenses) in AY 2025-26

• Students who will continue to receive their current scholarship in AY 2025-26

Q&A

• Q1. I will obtain a bachelor's/master's degree from University of Tsukuba within this academic year and I am planning to continue to study at a master's/doctoral course here next academic year. Can I apply for a scholarship even before gaining admission from the school?
• A1. Yes, you can. Submit a Status of Enrollment Notification form (Form #5) when you have passed the entrance examination.
• Q2. When can I know the result of the screening?
• A2. Only applicants selected by the university for recommendation will be notified the result and about the requirements to submit to the foundations by their Academic Service Office basically between the end of September 2024 and June 2025.
  Results will not be informed to students who were not selected. Note that even if you have been recommended by the university, you are not guaranteed to be accepted by the foundation.
