Mero-Holo: Rethinking "Kata" is a Taiwan-Japan collaborative exhibition jointly organized by the National Cheng Kung University Museum and the University of Tsukuba. Building on a rethinking of "kata" by Professor OHNIWA Ryosuke of the University of Tsukuba, the exhibition presents kata as a form of embodied learning shaped through repeated practice, imitation, adjustment, and tacit understanding. From the perspective of "parts and whole" (Mero-Holo), it asks how individual movements and experiences become integrated into a larger body of knowledge. Through examples such as martial arts, Kampo medicine, learning to ride a bicycle, NCKU student clubs, and historical photographs of NCKU campus sports, the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the role of bodily practice and tacit knowledge in contemporary learning and education.
