The 10th China-Japan-Korea Graduate Student Forum was held at the China University of Geosciences in Beijing in China from September 22 to 25. The forum is organized annually by the Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, aiming to improve students' English communication skills.

A total of 124 people attended the forum, including 30 students from the University of Tsukuba, 17 students from Chungnam National University in Korea, and 72 students from the following 7 universities in China: Peking University, Tsinghua University, China University of Geosciences, China Agricultural University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, and Shenyang Agricultural University.

Students made presentations on 124 topics in the following 12 sessions: Life (3 sessions), Environment (5 sessions), and Resource (4 sessions).

Before making presentations at the forum, students from the University of Tsukuba had received feedback from their advisory teachers twice. Thanks to their efforts, their presentation skills were greatly improved, in terms of both English proficiency and time management skills. Some students even impressed the judges with their presentation skills.

In 5 sessions, the following students served as chairpersons, made efforts to move the sessions forward smoothly: Ms. Haruna Tani (2nd-year student in the Master's Program in Biological Sciences, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences); Ms. Mahiro Ogawa (1st-year student in the Master's Program in Environmental Sciences, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences); Mr. Yuki Asano (2nd-year student in the Master's Program in Geosciences, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences); Ms. Yuna Sakata (4th-year student in the College of Agro-Biological Resource Sciences School of Life and Environmental Sciences); and Ms. ZHANG NAN (1st-year student in the Doctoral Program in Bioindustrial Sciences, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences).

A farewell party was held in the evening of September 24. Some 40 students who won the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes in 12 sessions received prizes at the party. There were 6 prize winners from the University of Tsukuba in each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes.

Having forged a deep friendship through the Forum, both the prize winners and others who missed out on the prizes shared their delight. At the same time, it was impressive to see the students who missed out on the prizes this year strengthening their determination to win the prize next year. We received praise from other universities' professors that our students' presentation skills have been improving every year.

Though the 4 days 3 nights trip was not long enough, students of the University of Tsukuba enjoyed sightseeing around the city of Beijing in their free time, with the help of volunteers from the China University of Geosciences. Promising to meet again at the forum next year, they parted in the afternoon of September 25.

The 11th China-Japan-Korea Graduate Student Forum is scheduled to be held at the University of Tsukuba. The forum plants to have about 200 participants from inside and outside the country. The University of Tsukuba intends to keep promoting exchanges between China, Japan, and Korea through this forum. We seek for your kind cooperation for the forum to last for a long time.
