University of Tsukuba Win GOLD and Best Practice Award in "work with Pride 2017"

A voluntary association, work with Pride (wwP), gave awards to companies and organizations in honor of their efforts to improve the working environment for LGBT people. Receiving a high evaluation for its effort, the University of Tsukuba won GOLD in this event. In addition, the university was selected as one of five Best Practice Award winners in the Policy (Declaration of Action) category.


The University of Tsukuba received the GOLD award for having been recognized for the following efforts: It established a set of basic principles for the treatment of LGBT people in March 2017. The principles have been posted on the Internet as written policy. The principles cover all of the university members, including faculty and staff, and students as customers of the university.


The University of Tsukuba aims to be an open university in all aspects. The university believes that supporting people of diverse backgrounds to be active will lead to create innovation. The university intends to continue efforts to promote diversity on campus.
