The Second Ge-NIS Alumni Meeting in Moscow

The Second Ge-NIS Alumni Meeting in Moscow, 2017, was held at Godunov Hotel in Moscow, Russia on October 31, under the auspices of the Global Education Program for Developing Multilingual Human Resources in Japan, NIS and Baltic Countries (Ge-NIS).


Attendees included Ge-NIS program Researcher Grigory MISOCHKO and Director General Shigeharu Kato of the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).


From Russia, a total of six students attended the meeting from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Moscow City Teachers' Training University, and the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University. They exchanged opinions about the study abroad program and the medical education exchange program that are implemented between their universities and the University of Tsukuba.


Three out of six students had experience of participating in the medical exchange program. The three students participated in a four-week practical training at a hospital. In addition, one of the three students studied more six months at the University of Tsukuba after finishing the medical training program.


The meeting was a great opportunity for them to share their experience. They talked about their experience in the Ge-NIS exchange program, the credit transfer system, the opportunity to learn Japanese language, their life in residence halls, and their experience of touring in Japan.


The alumni meeting is expected to help improve the Ge-NIS exchange program and to strengthen the network among the university's graduates related to Russia.
