Study in Japan Fair Held in Brazil and Peru

Study in Japan Fair 2017 was held at Colegio Mobile, Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), and Japan House in Sao Paulo in Brazil, and at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) in Peru from November 16 to 21.

The fair has been organized by the University of Tsukuba as part of the Coordinator for Study in Japan Project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) since 2015, and was held for the third time.

A total of 21 universities and educational institutions in Japan cooperated to provide information on studying in Japan.

A briefing session on scholarship was provided by Japan's diplomatic offices and the Japan Student Service Organization (JASSO) at each venue. Moreover, universities in attendance set their booths to give information on their universities. In addition, a video message from Brazilian and Peruvian students who are studying at the University of Tsukuba was screened at the event.

Though the fair was held in the night-time, many students and their parents who are interested in studying in Japan visited the event. They visited the universities' booths to consult directly with the universities' staff about academic matters.

UNESP
After holding a brief session at the auditorium, consultation booths were set up by universities in attendance at the fair. Though it rained, many students visited the fair to collect information.

Japan House
Japan House, which opened in 2017, along the central street in Sao Paulo, hosted the Study in Japan Fair for the first time. It was filled to capacity with more than 600 participants. A presentation session by the Japanese universities especially attracted their attention.

Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos ? UNMSM
The UNMSM is the oldest university in the South America, where university ruins still remain. The fair was held at an auditorium on campus. It started with an opening speech by UNMSM university staff, then followed by a presentation session by universities and educational institutions from Japan. Many students visited each booth, waited in line to receive consultation about studying in Japan.

On November 16, at Colegio Mobile (Sao Pauro, Brazil): 80 people
On November 17, at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) (Sao Paulo, Brazil): 60 people
On November 18, at Japan House (Sao Paulo, Brazil): 610 people
On November 21, at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos - UNMSM (Peru): 550 people
