2017 T-ACT 10th Anniversary Symposium

Fourth session: dialogue between current students, graduates, and T-ACT staff

Tsukuba Action Project (T-ACT) held its 10th Anniversary Symposium in Room 110 at the Laboratory of Advanced Research A on November 27. T-ACT is a project unique to the University of Tsukuba, which aims to promote students' involvement in social contribution activities through their spontaneous ideas and plans.

The symposium was held under the theme of "T-ACT connecting with society--10 year history of T-ACT and its future--". It provided an opportunity to look back on the history of T-ACT and to reconsider its meaning to support students' activities.

A total of 70 people including 30 students, 24 faculty and staff, and 16 people from outside the university participated in the symposium.

It started with an opening speech by Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa. In the first session, a performance report on the T-ACT's past 10 years was presented.

In the second session, currently enrolled students in T-ACT reported on their activities. They talked about their growth and what they have learned through T-ACT activities.

In the third session, a graduate who used to be a T-ACT member was invited as a speaker. He gave a talk on how his experience in T-ACT helped him after becoming a member of society.

In the fourth session, a dialogue session was held between current students, graduates, and staff engaged in establishing the T-ACT's student support system.

Through the symposium, attendees shared the idea that T-ACT is a support system which fosters students' ability to make "what they want to do" come true and to connect with people, that is, the activity you can't learn through desk study.

The 10th anniversary commemorative party was held afterward, where the participants exchanged views about T-ACT's future activities.
