University of Tsukuba Team Advances to the ACM-ICPC World Finals

Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) Asia Regional Contest 2017 was held from December 16 to 17 in Tsukuba City.


A student team from the University of Tsukuba, "5000-cho-en team", placed 10th in the Asia regional contest. Three students and one coach were included in the team: Ms. Haruka Iwaki, Mr. Yuuji Moroto, Mr. Yasuaki Rokugo, and Assistant Professor Claus Aranha of the Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems.


Taking prior record in consideration, the team was allowed to advance to the world finals scheduled in Beijing in April, 2018. ACM-ICPC is the world's largest programing competition, held in more than 100 countries around the world. More than 40,000 students take part in the competition, making teams of three each. Participants will compete with each other over their programming skills, working together with the team members.


"5000-cho-en team" became the third team that advanced to the finals from the University of Tsukuba, following the teams in 2014 and 2015.

Mr. Yasuaki Rokugo (1st-year, Master's Program in Applied Physics, Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences)
