Cycling Athlete Yumi Kajihara Won Gold at the Tissot UCI Track World Cup



A second-year student Ms. Yumi Kajihara of the School of Health and Physical Education made a courtesy visit to President Kyosuke Nagata, Vice President for Student Affairs Shin-ichi Tamagawa, and Vice President for Education Satoshi Shimizu on December 18, to report the result of the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Cup tournament.


After winning the championships in four categories at the Zen Nihon Senshuken Jidosha Kyogi Taikai in May, Ms. Kajihara won a bronze medal in the women's team pursuit at the second round of the Tissot UCI Track World Cup held in November.
She then became the first Japanese who won a gold in the women's omnium at the third round of the Tissot UCI Track World Cup held in December. She also won gold in the women's omnium at the fourth round of the Tissot UCI Track World Cup.


At the end of the meeting, President Nagata and the vice presidents praised her for her performance and expressed their hope that she will win a gold medal at the Olympics.
