The Global Village Summer Festival 2018

On 26 July, the Global Village Summer Festival 2018 hosted by the Department of Student Affairs and Tsukuba Global Academic Service Co., Ltd. was held on the premises of Global Village, a student dormitory of our university. More than 200 Japanese and international students participated in the festival.

According to the festival concept of dropping in aimlessly, a large variety of booths were opened such as the Japanese original yoyo fishing and Katanuki (cutting specified shape out of a flat cracker), struck-out, flying disk throw, limbo dance, experience of Origami (paper folding) guided by the staff members of 'Ask Us Desk' of the University. Moreover, various performances demonstrated by students' clubs at the event site created feverish atmosphere comparable to the heat of summer. In addition, food booths such as kitchen units and a popcorn shop were abundant. Especially, a booth to experience making cotton candy were extremely crowded with uninterrupted lines of people throughout the whole period of festival. In the end of the festival, some festival participants had an excellent time to enjoy the summer in Japan, joining in the circle formation of Bon dance following shouts of the university's T-ACT group 'Bon LIVE'.


The summer festival provided a unique opportunity for Japanese and international students to polish up their international way of thinking by knowing each other.
