On 1st October, University of Tsukuba Shopping Plaza opened in the southern part of Tsukuba Campus.

This shopping plaza is composed of a supermarket (KASUMI) and a cafe (Saza Coffee) for the purpose of improving the welfare and convenience of students, faculty and staff, and is a facility that brings crowd around the Hirasuna Residence Aria.


The opening ceremony was held from 10 am, lightly started with the performance of the acappella circle Doo-Wop of University of Tsukuba. President Kyosuke Nagata of the Universityof Tsukuba , Mayor of Tsukuba City Tatsuo Igarashi, Chairperson of KASUMI Hiromasa Kohama, Vice President of Saza Coffee Taro Suzuki, and President of Kajima Leasing Corporation Hitoshi Inaba gave address at the ceremony.


Subsequently, KASUMI Tsukuba University Store Manager Naomi Hakoda, and Two representative students of the acappella circle Doo-Wop joined, seven people cut the tape, and both stores opened.


In both stores, it was such a magnificent time that temporary entry restrictions would be imposed, and it was a wonderful opening day with a clear blue sky after the typhoon passed through.
