Holding of Go Abroad! 〈2018 Fall Study Abroad Fair〉


The Go Abroad!〈2018 Fall Study Abroad Fair〉 was held in the University Hall Area and co-hosted by Global Commons, Office of Global Initiatives, Top Global University Project Office of the Department of Educational Promotion, and Division of Student Exchange of the Department of Student Welfare of the University of Tsukuba on October 25 (Thursday).


This fair is held twice a year in spring and fall, designed to convey the appeal of studying abroad to students. The fair provided information about the admission system of overseas universities, scholarship, and information in each country concerning study abroad, and also gave an opportunity for students to directly exchange information with other students who experienced studying abroad, and encourage the students' interest in studying abroad. Moreover an individual consultation for the students who want to apply to exchange programs at foreign universities or short-term training was held.


This year, various booths including consultation desks of off-campus organizations managing international cooperation programs, scholarship information, and training programs overseas and students with study abroad experience were set up along with area-specific booths.


There were about 260 students and it provided a good opportunity for information collection and cross-cultural exchange by making overseas seem closer for participants through introductions of culture of each country and region with the assistance of international students.


The "Study Abroad Seminar" was also conducted to give information on admission to overseas graduate schools as one of the career options for undergraduate students. This program is hosted by the Ministry of Education under the theme of "Overseas Study Abroad Promotion Program for Japanese Students" and aims to give opportunities to study for all young people with motivation and ability, then to double the number of Japanese students studying abroad till 2010, strengthen the collection and provision of information and foster momentum for study abroad. Guest lecturer Mr. Yoshikazu Ueoku, Vice President of the Japan Admission of Overseas Studies (JAOS)/ Director of the Study Abroad Division of Zenken Corporation made a presentation and a question and answer session was held. Many questions were asked in the seminar, and after the seminar many students individually asked questions. It gave a meaningful opportunity for the fifty students who attended.


Our university will further expand various support for studying abroad to meet the needs of students and to increase students who are spreading their wings around the world from Tsukuba.
