The 17th Takamine Memorial Daiichi Sankyo Prize to be awarded to Professor Masashi Yanagisawa

The Sankyo Foundation of Life Science announced that the 17th Takamine Memorial Daiichi Sankyo Prize is to be awarded to Dr. Masashi Yanagisawa, Professor/Director of International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS), University of Tsukuba.


The Takamine Memorial Sankyo Prize was established in 2003 in memory of the research work of Dr. Jokichi Takamine, who was the first president of what was then Sankyo Co., Ltd. The Foundation presents this prize to an active researcher who is achieving remarkable feats in the progress and development of the life sciences, particularly in basic research for fields relating to the prevention and cure of disease as well as research with clear clinical applications.


Professor Yanagisawa has been selected as a recipient in recognition of his "Elucidation of homeostasis control mechanisms and applications in treatment of diseases."
