Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia visits President Nagata

Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia made a courtesy visit to President Nagata to promote exchange with our university in spite of his hectic schedule in Japan on June 21.

Since the University of Tsukuba and the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) established the Joint Master's Degree Program in Sustainability and Environmental Sciences as a Joint Degree Program (JDP) in September 2017, we have been running the Joint Master's Degree Program aiming for solving problems facing both countries and building a sustainable society by developing human resources who acquired expertise and heightened insight mainly in the field of Environmental Sciences. Furthermore, we bear an extremely close relationship including the conferment of an honorary doctorate on Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, prime minister of Malaysia by our university in November last year.

Taking the visit as an opportunity, with strong support from the Malaysian government, the promotion of further exchanges is highly expected.
