The Global Village Summer Festival 2019

On 23 July, the Global Village Summer Festival 2019 hosted by the Department of Student Affairs and Tsukuba Global Academic Service Co., Ltd. was held on the premises of Global Village, a student dormitory of our university. Around 100 Japanese and international students participated in the festival.

According to the festival concept of dropping in, a large variety of booths were opened such as yukata, a casual version of the kimono, dressing service for female international students, water balloon fishing and Katanuki (cutting specified shape out of a flat cracker), struck-out, experience of Origami (paper folding) and round paper fan decorations guided by the staff members of 'Ask Us Desk' of the university. Moreover, some festival participants had an excellent time to enjoy the summer in Japan, joining in the circle formation of Bon dance following shouts of the university's T-ACT group 'Bon LIVE'.

In addition, food booths such as food trucks and a popcorn shop were abundant. Especially, a booth to experience making cotton candy was extremely crowded with uninterrupted lines of people throughout the whole period of the festival. The summer festival provided a unique opportunity for Japanese and international students to polish up their international way of thinking by knowing each other.
