CiC Agreement between KazNU and the University of Tsukuba

A signing ceremony was held to conclude a Campus-in-Campus (CiC) agreement between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and the University of Tsukuba on September 19 at the campus of KazNU. In attendance were Vice President BENTON Caroline F. (Global Affairs), Specially Appointed Professor Teruo Higashi (Office of Global Initiatives), and Professor Masaki Ono (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) for the University of Tsukuba, and Rector Mutanov Galimkair Mutanovich, Vice Rector Ramazanov Tlekkabul Sabitovich (Research-Innovation Affairs), Vice Rector Khikmetov Askar Kusupbekovich (Academic Affairs), Ph.D. Paltore Yktiyar Moldatoreuly (Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies), Eminent Professor Takashi Ninomiya (Coordinator, University of Tsukuba Almaty Office, Kazakhstan) and others for KazNU. The signing ceremony was held at the venue of QS Worldwide 2019 (https://www.qsworldwide.org/kazakhstan-2019/) that was held from 19 to 20 September 2019 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The signing ceremony started with an introduction about the exchange history between the two universities until now. Rector Mutanov Galimkair Mutanovich then delivered the following address: "Since the signing of the memorandum for the preparation of the conclusion of Campus in Campus in February 2015, the delegation from the University of Tsukuba has repeatedly come for the conclusion of the memorandum and we are glad that we are approaching the signing ceremony. From here forward, without the content of the memorandum becoming a mere facade, it is expected that we will try to forge sustainable and productive ties."

Subsequently, a complimentary remark was given by Vice President BENTON, in which she said, "I offer you my hearty congratulations on the holding of QS WORLDWIDE 2019 conference and exhibition. At the moment, the University of Tsukuba faces a great change under the slogan of IMAGINE THE FUTURE. We are looking to the introduction of further organizational change, promotion of internationalization, and corresponding English programs. The theme of QS WORLDWIDE 2019 is "Journey to Global Prominence: Harmony of Human Heritage and Advanced Technology" and it has struck a chord with me because it is akin to the slogan of the University of Tsukuba."

From this memorandum, the University of Tsukuba will promote exchange not only in the field of Japanese language education and research of humanities and social sciences on Middle East, but also wider research and education fields by using the strength of the two universities.
