Professor Masashi Yanagisawa has been selected as a Person of Cultural Merit

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan announced the Order of Culture (Bunkakunsho) and Persons of Cultural Merit (Bunkakorosha) in 2019. Prof. Masashi Yanagisawa, Director of International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS) has been named a Person of Cultural Merit, which is an official Japanese recognition and honor which is awarded annually to selected people who have made outstanding cultural contributions. Prof. Yanagisawa has been selected as a recipient in recognition of his great contributions to advances in medical science and health promotion through his discovery of "endothelin" and "orexin" and the elucidation of their functional mechanisms. The award ceremony is going to be held in Tokyo on November 5.
