Holding of a Japanese culture introduction event "ORIGAMI Workshop"

The "ORIGAMI Workshop" was held, organized by the Campus Globalization Division of Global Commons, at Student Commons of the university on February 14. The workshop aimed at introducing Japanese culture to international students and get them to experience Japanese culture. It introduced Japan's doll festival "hinamatsuri", a traditional event in spring through the art of paper folding.

Many people including researchers and students from various countries tried folding hinamatsuri dolls and traditional cranes using colorful Japanese paper, under the guidance of MARUYAMA Keiko, a former staff of the University of Tsukuba. They all made their original hinamatsuri dolls carefully and earnestly, and also exchanged with Japanese students. The workshop provided a good opportunity for cross-cultural exchange.
