Request in regard to the handling of our university contingent to the imposition of the declaration of a state of emergency

The declaration of a state of emergency based on the Revised Act on Special Measures Concerning COVID-19 by the government on April 7, 2020 was issued involving 7 Prefectures (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka) and there is also a request for a voluntary ban from leaving home unless absolutely necessary including daytime during the weekdays until May 6 from Ibaraki Prefecture and concerned local governments including Tsukuba City.

Our university has issued the "Request for voluntary restraint, etc. toward the prevention of the spread of infection" as of April 3 and has made a request for a voluntary ban from leaving home unless absolutely necessary during the weekend (April 4 and 5) and at night during the weekdays (until April 10). However, as a result of the declaration of a state of emergency at this time, our university has decided to make a request for a voluntary ban from leaving home unless absolutely necessary including daytime during the weekdays and to extend the period until May 6.

Furthermore, the period of our request shall be until the end of the implementation period of the request, etc. for a voluntary ban from leaving home by the concerned local governments based on the declaration of a state of emergency and may be extended in the days to come. We would like to ask students, faculty members, and employees of our university to accommodate this further request for voluntary restraint toward the prevention of the spread of infection.
