The 42nd Tsukuba Marathon

On November 13, the 42nd Tsukuba Marathon (sponsored by Tsukuba City, the University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki Association of Athletics Federations, and the Yomiuri Shimbun) was held for the first time in three years, starting and finishing at the University. On the day of the event, the weather was fine, and approximately 10,000 people (it was scaled down this time to prevent infection) ran through the campus and streets of Tsukuba, which was colored with autumn leaves.

The Tsukuba Marathon was held under the theme of "Marathon with a Scientific Look" and this year's event addresses five themes: race strategy, start, running form, scenery, and water and food supply.

In line with this, a "wave start" was adopted for the "start" of the full marathon, with OTA Kei, Vice President for Student Affairs, acting as the starter for the third wave of approximately 1,400 runners on behalf of President NAGATA Kyosuke, who is the Vice President of the event.

In addition, in an interview with the finishers, we heard comments such as, "It was very valuable to be able to enjoy the scenery of Tsukuba and run through the historic university campus, and I would like to participate again next time."

Finally, we thank you for your understanding and cooperation regarding traffic regulations.
