The University's LGBTQ initiatives received a GOLD rating in the "PRIDE Index 2022" developed by work with Pride (wwP), a voluntary organization that supports the promotion and establishment of LGBTQ+ diversity management, on Thursday, November 10. This is the fifth time that the university has received the Gold award, the most for any university.

Our University has established an open university in all aspects, believes that supporting people of diverse backgrounds to be active will lead to create innovation, and intends to continue efforts to promote diversity on campus.

PRIDE Index

The PRIDE Index was developed by wwP, a voluntary organization, in 2016 as the first index in Japan to evaluate the efforts of companies, organizations, etc., regarding LGBTQ and other sexual minorities (hereafter referred to as LGBTQ). The name of the index is "PRIDE Index," which aims to realize workplaces where LGBTQ people can work with pride and the index evaluates efforts in the following five areas in order to "create LGBTQ-friendly workplaces in Japan beyond the framework of companies, organizations, etc."

-Policy
-Representation
-Inspiration
-Development
-Engagement/Empowerment

The Gold Award for our approach

For the above five indicators, an evaluation score will be given according to the degree of achievement. The University of Tsukuba got the scores of all five indicators and got GOLD evaluations with five points outstanding.
