Catholic University of Leuven Vice-Rector Meets with President NAGATA to Discuss International Collaborations

On April 20, Prof. Dr. Gerard Govers, Vice-Rector of Belgium's KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven), visited the University of Tsukuba and held talks with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director, Bureau of Global Initiatives), Director SAKURAI Takeaki (Office of Global Initiatives), Prof. UEDONO Akira (Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences), and Associate Prof. Ruth Vanbaelen (Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences) who graduated from KU Leuven. During the talks, they expressed their expectations for stronger collaboration between the two universities, which share many similarities in their strategies and research fields, to continue to be good partners in the future.


In addition, the visiting group also toured the accelerator facility at the University of Tsukuba's Center for Research in Radiation, Isotopes, and Earth System Sciences (CRiES). They also exchanged opinions on the potential for future collaboration with faculty members from the School of Science and Engineering, School of Life and Environmental Sciences, and the Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED).


Further exchange and collaboration with KU Leuven are expected in the future.
