On April 26, a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Economy of Thuringia, Germany visited the University of Tsukuba to meet with Vice President/ Executive Director IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director General, Bureau of Global Initiatives), Director SAKURAI Takeaki (Office of Global Initiatives), and Professor UEDONO Akira (Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences). During the discussion, Vice President IKEDA gave an overview of the University of Tsukuba, and then the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the four member universities of the Thuringian delegation introduced their respective universities and explained their expectations for cooperation with the University of Tsukuba.

This was followed by a research presentation by Associate Professor UTADA Andrew (Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences), and an active exchange of ideas regarding cooperation in the fields of microbial control and biophysics, as well as the revitalization of student exchange.

We look forward to further exchanges and collaboration between Thuringia's academic institutions and our university in the future.
