African Students Visit Campus through the Sakura Science Exchange Program

On August 19, approximately 30 high school students from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia visited the University of Tsukuba as part of the Sakura Science Exchange Program organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
During their visit, the students participated in an orientation session, a student exchange event, and a mock lecture. During the exchange session, international students from the same countries as well as Japanese students shared their real-life experiences of studying and living in Tsukuba, offering helpful tips and honest insights. A student originally from another African country led the mock lecture, introducing their research in computer vision and facilitating a lively discussion with the participants.
The visit gave the students a chance to experience the campus atmosphere and learn more about student life here. Meeting current students from their home countries also helped them imagine themselves studying here in the future.
