Ghanaian Ambassador to Japan and University of Ghana Vice President Visit University of Tsukuba
On November 7, H.E. Mrs. Genevieve Edna Apaloo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to Japan, and Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, University of Ghana's Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development, visited the University of Tsukuba and paid a courtesy call on Vice President for Global Affairs OHNEDA Osamu.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. MORIO Takahiro (Director, Africa Region, Office of Global Initiatives), Prof. ONO Masaki (Director, Center for Education of Global Communication, Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences), Prof. ICHIKAWA Masao (Institute of Medicine), Assistant Prof. FUKUSHIGE Mizuho (Vice Director, Africa Region, Office of Global Initiatives), and Ms. IWAMI Sanae (Head, Office of Global Initiatives).
During the meeting, Vice President OHNEDA expressed his appreciation to H.E. Mrs. Apaloo for her participation in the University of Tsukuba's 50th anniversary ceremony held in October 2023. The courtesy visit proceeded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, fostering constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
Discussions also covered the Sakura Science Program and other educational initiatives, as well as the University of Tsukuba's selection under the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Inter-University Exchange Project focusing on Ghana, which is expected to further deepen academic collaboration between the two countries.
In addition, both the University of Ghana and University of Tsukuba are members of the Worldwide University Network (WUN), and it is anticipated that collaboration between the two institutions will continue to develop through WUN-based initiatives.
Moving forward, the University of Tsukuba will continue to strengthen collaboration with the Republic of Ghana and the University of Ghana through dialogue and institutional cooperation.
