On May 21, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Ricver Ureta and Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement Romeo Teruel of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, visited the University of Tsukuba. They met with Executive Director and Provost KATO Mitsuyasu, Vice President and Executive Director for Education TAKENAKA Yoshihiko, and Director NOMURA Nakao of the Division of International Exchange Support.
Vice Chancellor Teruel is an alumnus of the University of Tsukuba, where he earned his doctoral degree, and this visit marked his first return to his alma mater in approximately 20 years.

At the meeting, the delegation expressed strong appreciation for the University of Tsukuba's acceptance of students through the ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) program, which has supported student mobility between Japan and Southeast Asia. Building on this achievement, the participants discussed possibilities for further promoting student exchange in a wider range of academic fields and exploring new forms of educational collaboration, including the potential use of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact." They also exchanged views on expanding multi-layered academic exchange, including research collaboration and faculty exchange.
Following the courtesy visit, a meeting and networking session were also held with the Association of Filipino Scholars in Tsukuba (FAST).

This visit is expected to further strengthen collaboration with the University of St. La Salle and promote broader exchange between the two universities in various fields.
