Ceremony

On June 23, the Student Support Center hosted an international exchange event featuring a fashion show featuring traditional clothing from around the world and a multicultural quiz.

Students with roots in a wide range of countries and regions gathered at the venue, enjoying conversations and intercultural exchange while wearing traditional and culturally distinctive clothing from their home countries and regions. International students also took part in a yukata dressing experience, giving them an opportunity to enjoy traditional Japanese attire.

During the fashion show, students walked the runway wearing a variety of traditional clothing, including tais from Timor-Leste, galabeya from Egypt, and yukata from Japan. Presentations were also given by students from Peru, Timor-Leste, Egypt, and Japan, who introduced their traditional attire and shared information about their cultures.

Participants also took part in a multicultural quiz featuring traditions, customs, and cultures from around the world, learning more about different cultures in an enjoyable and engaging way.

Students shared positive feedback about the event:

I wanted to share about Egyptian culture. Not only customs or style, but we also have different traditions, our identity. And now I know a lot about different cultures. I think Tsukuba always hosts those kinds of events to learn a lot about culture and exchange it. I'm happy to have this experience.

It's my first time wearing a yukata, and it's really good. And the design is very cute. I really like this. And this will be a memorable experience in Japan.

Since each quiz was presented by someone from that country, we were able to learn many things that you would not find through an online search.

We also had the opportunity to meet international students we had never interacted with before. In addition, new exchange students arrive each semester, which helps us build new connections.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for students to engage with different cultures and perspectives, deepening connections and mutual understanding across the university community.
